Whoah my friend Satellite High is skyrocketing to tumblr fame because he and the inimitable @donglord69 cheered on Raffi being mad about the right things. That’s neat!
Remember this?
Montreal’s Recordface remixed our unreleased track “Pro-War Bumper Sticker” and now it is way more synthy and aggressive and I want you to play this with BASS and I want you to shout parts of it at people you think are HOT and parts of it at people you think are ASSHOLES and if you get those parts mixed up then OOPS.
Early in 2012 I was lucky to appear on a Japanese 7” single by Mongoika, also featuring sibitt, Bleubird, Thesis Sahib, and cuts by DJ KEN ONE. It’s about reincarnation & karma (I rap about my skepticism because I’m difficult to play with), and they took the name from my verse: “Moksa Only.” (Canadian rap joke)
It’s a very scrappy, lo-fi track with amazing cuts, so it feels like classic underground rap from the late 90s to me. I enjoy listening to the vinyl, but my favourite way to experience the song is to watch the video - now you can, too!
My parts were shot by Randy Hogg in Ottawa (on Elgin Street) and he made me look really sexy in my heavy winter lingerie.

Hahaa this is the original release of Inter Alia, with cover photography & design by the guy whose name is censored out of “Professional Widowmaker” on Humble & Brilliant.
That cute & tiny illustration on the inside is by someone who is indicted (not by name) in the second verse of “Triptych II: Hot Property” on Humble & Brilliant when I said “Fair weather friends act like they wear leather skins / scared of getting them wet, and that’s a fear that never ends / It was exciting de-friending me, citing moral ascendency / taking perverse pleasure, making the pressure worse / whatever - if you’re not my friend now, you never were / and if it makes you feel better, tell yourself that it’s for her…”
That is why there is a different version of the album cover now.
Jared from Apartment 613 interviewed me immediately upon my return from the US in September, and asked me a lot of questions that really made me feel like a Person of Note. Here is the article that he wrote!
It appears now in part to promote my show tomorrow night, which I shall fill you in on right here just in case you set aside this delightful article to read on the weekend or something and accidentally don’t find out.
I’m being joined by Lost Profit$ (I only just found out about the dollar sign in their name - oops) and Nolely Nole and we’re all performing at Avant Garde Bar & Gift Shop in Ottawa, at 135 1/2 Besserer Street. I’m going to put some music on at 9, and people should start rapping at about 10, and it’s going to cost $5, and then I don’t know about you but I’m going to Oh My Jam! at Babylon for the “unofficial afterparty” (by which I mean a totally independent show being put on by A Tribe Called Red).
I hope you will join us, if you are in Ottawa or can get here by tomorrow night.
